SchoolOS
School OS is a joint collaboration of NCERT (National Council Of Educational Research And Training) with IIT Delhi and is determined to spearhead the rise of open source in primary and secondary education system in India. It is a unix based operating system, built on top of ubuntu. It highlights the concept of GNUosphere and brings linux to kids. I have been associated with this project for quite a long time as a volunteer. I visited many schools in my city , demonstrated school OS and educational tools it avails. In this regard, I conducted install fests in school labs, linuxified their operating systems, delivered interactive sessions to preuniversity kids and made them familiar with applications like Netbeans, BlueFish editor, GIMP, Open Office, Kturtle ,Kplot, Periodic table, Kanagram, Dr Geo, celestia etc.
